My pictures come directly from my perspective of everyday interactions with people, thoughts or moods.
Some are abstracted figures, while others are portraits of attitudes or situations .Through color and shapes, the push/pull of editing out what is not needed and prioritizing what is , eventually the picture evolves.
A lot of the time the paintings are maps of emotional state, mechanics and areas of colors, representing a puzzle of sorts. Snapshots of moments in time.
Most of my paintings have titles that explain what is going on.
Lately , I have been working with an etching press, making copper plate etchings and collographs, I love how the textured pictures look. The printmaking process is one I return to time and time again to refresh my work with a different approach. It also allows me to simplify things and carry this idea over to my paintings
I have a B.F.A. in painting from Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, PA.
